My name is David Brown. I’m in my dorm room, watching the police hold back the protestors that hate me and my family. My father was Ray Brown, the world acclaimed software genius who developed the code for Atlas, the first computer system that could speak intelligently. Just like the computer in the old Star Trek series. Everybody admired my father, but his final act was to release a lethal computer virus into the Internet and shut down computers all over the world. I was eleven when the virus roared across the Internet. They say more than a million people died before the virus was terminated and the computers restarted. He was one of those who didn’t make it. I got a big surprise this morning --- a time-delayed email dated ten years in the past. A message from my father. He claims to have discovered a virus hidden in the new Atlas release, and he is trying to track down its developers. Either my father was delusional or someone framed him for a crime he didn’t commit. If I could prove his innocence, my name would be cleared and maybe I’d have a normal life. Of course, if I dig into this, the people who murdered him will come after me. I have to know the truth, wherever it takes me. What have I got to lose?

Where di all the good reviews come from? The plot of this sequel is functional, and there are some interesting speculative elements in the novel. However, the prose in this tome is horrendous. The author does not seem to know how to evoke a feeling in the reader, so he resorts to telling the reader how to feel. Unfortunately, I have a constitutional inability to stop reading something I have started (well, almost always), so I read the whole thing. I won't be reading another (unless someone wants to pay me a hefty sum to help rewrite the functional plot in much more readable prose).

Unholy Domain edition by Dan Ronco Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Unholy Domain is set in the future and talks about a society that is all but collapsed due to a computer virus that caused a world wide crisis; his first novel Peacemaker covers this attack.. The book looks at two groups in society that evolve due to this virus attack. You have a religious group that believes that technology is Satan's work and the technology group who believes that we haven't gone far enough in our use of technology. Dan Ranco does a good job in describing the battle between the two groups to take control of humanities destiny. The main character, David, gives us the opportunity to question whether humans are still capable of evolutionary changes.

While the story line had a good flow I did find it a little unbelievable that it was only 2022. In my opinion it was hard to believe that a society could make the progress in computers and androids that was shown in Unholy Domain while going backward by fifty plus years in the infrastructures of cities and businesses. I also agree with another reviewer that it was unbelievable that the women in David's life would fall for him so quickly. While the book was hard to believe in some instances, I did enjoy reading the book and am looking forward to the next installment.

I found the idea of the main character evolving into a new kind of human intriguing and will take the time to read his first novel in the series. This writer has a bright future and I look forward to see how his writing evolves over time. I hope that part of that evolution will be more in-depth character building for the secondary characters.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about an all to possible future that involves a devolution of humanity. This all too possible future made it impossible for me to put down the book and I found myself comparing today's financial crisis to what was happening in Unholy Domain.
Having read many "technothrillers", I can truly say that Dan Ronco has captured a view of the future which is compelling, overwhelming, and unparalleled. This second book in the series (Peacemaker was the first) delivers a story that both thrills and frightens, yet provides a spark of hope.

I received my copy on Thursday, and once I started reading I could barely put it down. Ronco's deep character development combined with a literary canvas of impressive colors provided me with a wonderful experience. Through rich use of visualizations, Ronco led me through a maze of technology which may soon be upon us and which may, someday, become a part of our everyday life.

Once into the action of the book, the story just pours from the pages and moves at a perfect pace. The intertwining storylines come alive as each character begins to interact with the others and the vision of the future of our planet is revealed. Ronco takes you into a world which is not only believable, but is beginning to become a reality!!! With every twist and turn, the thrill becomes more intense.

UNHOLY DOMAIN is a riveting read which will pique and keep your interest. I HIGHLY recommend this book and also Ronco's first book, PEACEMAKER.
After reading Dan Ronco's first book, Peacemaker, I was very anxious to get started with his second. And it's worth reading! I'm looking forward to his third book even though I haven't finished Unholy Domain yet.
I'm less happy with the quality of the ebook though. While the first one (which I didn't buy through ) was laid out nicely with bold titles, italic quotes and different font sizes this one misses all that. The fact that almost every title ends with a superfluous letter P - which is unlike all othter text bold and in a larger font size - proves that making this ebook has been done carelessly. I don't know who made the ebook ( or the publisher) but at least should have checked the quality.
